********* Fund your Co-op Advertising Programs with Trade *********

Here is an outline on how your business can benefit from co-op advertising  programs funded with trade purchases
Co-Op advertising programs are available to may distributors and retailers through programs
established by the manufacturers they represent .

Manufacturers commonly offer incentives to distributors to advertise their  brand names in advertising campaigns in local markets .
Typically a manufacturer will pay 40% to 60% of the cost of a campaign that
features their brand name in a cable , radio or print ad .

Each manufacturer has guidelines to be adhered to , but usually it is a
simple process to qualify for these co-op advertising dollars .

A  trade client has an added incentive to participate in these programs  since , in effect , they can use this as a cash creation program while also benefiting from the added exposure and awareness levels created by the advertising campaign .

Let's use an example of an appliance dealer who operates on a 40% cost of
goods sold and whose factory co-op program offers to pay 50% of the cost of local advertising

The appliance dealer purchases $10,000 in advertising using their trade account .
Their cost basis in this advertising is $4000
( Their cost to sell 10k of product on trade )

The dealer then submits the $10,000 in advertising invoices received from  the cable network or radio station to the factory Co-op program The factory program pays 50% of these invoices and send a check to the dealer for $5000

The dealer now has the benefit of a $10,000 advertising program to increase  sales and has received $5000 from the factory to pay the $4000 in cost to fund the cost of goods for the products sold on trade .

They just got paid $1000 and received a free 10k advertising program .

The benefits increase if the dealer used distressed or closeout inventory  to fund the trade sales since now when the new customers he receives as a result of his advertising program come into the store to make a purchase
they will be buying the newest top end inventory at full price instead being offered discounted merchandise that needs to be sold at below normal pricing .
